
La onza de plata superó este martes el umbral simbólico de los 20 dólares, llegando a un máximo de seis años, en un entorno favorable en el mercado de los metales preciosos.
A las 14:05 GMT la onza de plata llegó a 21.19 dólares, nivel no visto desde julio de 2014.
«Como ocurre con el oro, el flujo de dinero (hacia la plata) está alimentado casi exclusivamente por una robusta demanda especulativa» explicó Daniel Briesemann, analista de Commerzbank.
El oro había alcanzado este martes un nuevo máximo en nueve años, a 1,841.65 dólares la onza.
Los metales preciosos son considerados como valores refugio, y aprovechan el período de gran incertidumbre que provoca la pandemia del coronavirus Covid-19.
Además, en el caso de la plata «su importancia en las nuevas tecnologías de baterías, y la reducción de la oferta minera, que es la principal fuente de la plata, están creando un desequilibrio entre la oferta y la demanda», según Jasper Lawler, analista del London Capital Group.
