Investing.com – Bolsas disparadas este lunes tras el anuncio de Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) que la vacuna en la que trabaja, junto con BioNTech, candidata es efectiva en más del 90% para prevenir COVID-19 en participantes sin evidencia de infección previa por SARS-CoV-2 en el primer análisis de eficacia provisional.

Según el comunicado, el análisis evaluó 94 casos confirmados de COVID-19 en participantes. El estudio reclutó a 43,538 participantes, de los cuales el 42% tenían antecedentes diversos y no se han observado problemas de seguridad graves. Se siguen recopilando datos de seguridad y eficacia adicionales

La presentación para la autorización de uso de emergencia (EUA) a la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos de los EE.UU. (FDA en sus siglas en inglés) está prevista para poco después de que se alcance el hito de seguridad requerido, que actualmente se espera que ocurra en la tercera semana de noviembre

El ensayo clínico continuará hasta el análisis final en 164 casos confirmados para recopilar más datos y caracterizar el desempeño de la vacuna candidata frente a otros criterios de valoración del estudio.
