Investing.com – La inflación mensual en mayo se situó en 0.6%, por encima de las expectativas generales del mercado, que apuntaba a 0.4%, pero menor a la registrada en abril, que fue de 0.8%. El índice de precios al consumidor anual se ubicó en 5%, casi igual a lo esperado, que era 4.7%.

“La subida de los precios es la mayor de los últimos trece años. En gran medida, debido al efecto comparativo frente a 2020, cuando se produjeron los confinamientos a nivel mundial para luchar contra la pandemia”, explica Jorge Gordillo Arias, director de análisis económico y bursátil de CIBanco.

“El debate es si esta inflación es transitoria y positiva para la economía, porque refleja una recuperación de la actividad y de la demanda; o si por el contrario será permanente y negativa, lo cual será perjudicial para el crecimiento y terminará por provocar otra crisis”, agregó el experto.

Por ahora, los principales bancos centrales aseguran que será transitoria, principalmente por los ajustes en las dinámicas de la economía mundial ante la reactivación paulatina.

La inflación subyacente, indicador de la tendencia de la inflación a largo plazo, se ubicó en 0.7%, por encima de lo esperado por el mercado (0.4%), y por debajo de la previa 0.9%.
